  • Someone PLEASE try to help me... I have a strange problem. Okay, I have been in therapy for various problems (mostly post-traumatic stress disorder) since November of 2004. It's been such a long time, and I'm beginning to feel obligated to "graduate" therapy. Problem is, my therapist and I have become very close (she's almost like a mom to me), so how do I say I need to move on? How do I break ties with a person who basically saved my life and sanity? I don't want to bring this up in our next session because it's embarrassing.

  • There comes a time when you move on from your therapy. I was in therapy for 3 years after my parents divorced, and one week I realized...as wonderful as my shrink was...I didn't need her anymore.

    Just continue with her casually. You don't have to end your sessions immediately, you can taper off until you're ready to "leave the nest" completely. She will totally understand...her job is to help fix what ails you, and when you don't need to go anymore, that means she was successful in helping you heal.

  • Many people suffer from hay fever. How does this condition relate to hay?

  • "Hay fever" is a misnomer. Hay is not a usual cause of this problem and it does not cause fever. Early descriptions of sneezing, nasal congestion, and eye irritation while harvesting field hay promoted this popular term. Many substances cause the allergic symptoms noted in hay fever and hay represents only a small percentage. "Allergic rhinitis" is the correct term used to describe this allergic reaction. Rhinitis means "irritation of the nose" and is a derivative of "Rhino," meaning nose. Allergic rhinitis which occurs during a specific season is called "seasonal allergic rhinitis". When it occurs throughout the year, it is called "perennial allergic rhinitis."

  • It feels like you are going to die. When I had one, it felt like my heart had stopped and I was just lying in bed waiting to die. I couldn't decide if it was a heart attack or not. Even now I still get them; I just know how to deal with them. It feels like my heart has stopped, but I know it really hasn't.

What is the Search Results page?  The Search Results page is displayed after you ask a question on Wondir.

Have you ever really looked at the information on the Search Results page?  It has a variety of resources to help answer your questions.  Read on for a description of each of resource.  Note: Each resource has been underlined in a different color.


Re-categorization - There is a box at the top of the Search Results page that tells you which category might fit your question best.  Here, you have the opportunity to change the category if you feel another category is more appropriate than the one suggested.  Please note that the category selection is not done by a person; it is based on rules within the system, and sometimes the automatic selection will be wrong for the question.

Related Questions With Answers - Here we display a list of similar questions that have already been answered on Wondir.  You may be able to find the answer you're looking for here.  You can see a longer list of related questions by clicking on the "More Related Questions" link at the end of this section.
